Thursday Prayer

Isaiah 46:4 New International Version (NIV)

Even to your old age and gray hairs
    I am he, I am he who will sustain you.
I have made you and I will carry you;
    I will sustain you and I will rescue you.

Isaiah 46:4 is the tag line for my blog because it gives comfort to me as I grow older that God will not abandon me.  He has not abandoned all those who are residents of nursing homes (if you do not like my use of “nursing home” I will be doing a post about why I have no shame in using that term).  He will help them to finish well, to hold onto Him who loves them and watches over them.  He will also watch over their families who are visiting them and caring for them.  God is greater than the world.

Sometimes I like to look at bible verses in The Message, just because the words seem to hit you in the gut:

Isaiah 46:4 The Message (MSG)

3-4 “Listen to me, family of Jacob,
    everyone that’s left of the family of Israel.
I’ve been carrying you on my back
    from the day you were born,
And I’ll keep on carrying you when you’re old.
    I’ll be there, bearing you when you’re old and gray.
I’ve done it and will keep on doing it,
    carrying you on my back, saving you.
